Rotary Actuators

The ultimate solution to cylinder problems.

UNIKAS rotary actuators have been designed to eliminate many of the problems that other cylinders experience, such as problems with pressure, corrosion or alignment.

Rack-and-pinion reliability
UNIKAS actuators have a polished steel rack which rides on o-rings in a fully enclosed chrome-plated cylinder. As the rack moves, its teeth mesh with the pinion.

The stainless steel pinion shaft turns, instead of sliding in and out. This eliminates any dirt being dragged into the seal. The pinion is surrounded by unpressurized lube oil: no pressure against the seal means no leaks. Two oversized ball bearings hold the pinion rigid. This support eliminates seal flat spots and bent shaft problems.

Constant Torque
UNIKAS actuators give you maximum torque over the entire steering arc, unlike cylinders whose torques decreases the farther you get from dead center. A cylinder is weakest in the hard over position where you need the most power. This mechanical advantage allows you to use a small actuator to do the same job as a large cylinder. More UNIKAS flexibility.

Easier To Install
UNIKAS rotary actuators can be mounted in several positions. The oil fitting ports rotate 360 degrees for easy connection and simple air bleeding. With the compact size and stationary operation UNIKAS actuators require less room to install than a cylinder. Alignment though important, is not as critical as using a cylinder.
